The tour is an adventure of a lifetime that no one can afford to miss. The 3-day trek starts in Kigali, Rwanda, since Kigali is close to Uganda gorilla parks (5 hours) compared to Kampala or Entebbe, which takes an 8-9 hours’ drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Our representative from gorilla tours will pick you up at Kigali International Airport or downtown Kigali and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive to Uganda will go through Rwanda’s northern town of Ruhengeri. You will then cross over into Uganda via Cyanika or Katuna border post.

The trip continues through the nearby Kisoro or Kabale town and finally to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey from Kigali to Bwindi Forest will take approximately 5 hrs. Arriving at Bwindi National Park in the early afternoon will allow you to do optional activities such as canoeing at Lake Mutanda, visiting the Batwa community, and having a coffee-making experience. Overnight can be at your reserved lodge.

On the day of gorilla tracking, you wake up very early in the morning and have early breakfast and get ready with your packed lunch, read with you hiking boots, long sleeved trouser, a hat, sun glassed, drinking water and skin repellent.

Off you head to Bwindi park headquarters’ for a briefing about the gorilla trek. The national park guide will conduct a presentation that covers the basics of what to expect during the gorilla trek. The national guide will assign the gorilla trekking group during the pre – trekking briefing. Other visitors will likely join you. The gorilla trek can take a few hours, depending on how far the gorillas are inside the forest.

The time spent gorilla tracking is unpredictable; it varies from 2-8 hours before an encounter with the family of these gentle creatures. The location of each gorilla family depends on temperature, their feeding range, and movement of the previous day with the trackers ahead of your tracking group.

Visitors are allowed to spend only one hour in the company of a habituated gorilla family. Saver this time, watch and capture the memorable experience as the gorillas go about their day-to-day activities the young ones playing around the old ones, feeding each other, and eating foliage. The sight of these fantastic creatures is the climax of this entire safari. Later retire for an overnight at the lodge.
