One & Only Nyungwe House is set amongst the rich tea plantations of Gisakura, In Southwest Rwanda, just south of Lake Kivu on the Burundi border. The property is set on the edge of the iconic Nyungwe National Park, which covers approximately 1020 square kilometers of rain forest, bamboo, and swamps. The accommodations at this lodge provide a sense of tranquility with a fireplace and picturesque private deck. Magashi camp Situated in the productive and phenomenally diverse north-eastern corner of Akagera National Park, overlooking scenic Lake Rwanyakazinga. Akagera comprises some of the most scenic savannah in East Africa – open plains, woodlands, lakes, swamp, and grassy low mountains – and is home to one of Africa’s highest hippo densities, large crocodiles, as well as the rare sitatunga and almost 500 species of birds.

Teeming with plains game, Akagera also boasts a healthy population of lions which were introduced by African Parks in 2015 after a 20-year absence; black rhinos were reintroduced in 2017. Magashi – the only exclusive-use area in Akagera – also harbors a good density of leopards.

Wilderness Sabyinyo Lodge is spread over an area of 17 acres and offers just 9 cottages and suites to frill tourists. These rooms are scattered around the property and are accessible by way of a pleasant walk through the estate with sightings of some of the 178 species of bird’s native to the Albertine Rift forests of the Volcanoes national park.

Each of the cottages is made of stone with terracotta tiles for the roofs and is shielded from the others by sheer distance and greenery to accord perfect privacy. You can choose from one of the 6 cottages and 2 suites. The lodge also offers 1 family suite that comprises of two rooms that open onto a shared patio. Relax in the seating arrangements inside the room or on the verandah or open up the hammock for a leisurely nap. En-suite bathrooms include handmade toiletries, twin vanities, bathtub and a handmade shower stall.

Lake Kivu Serena Hotel, spend your lake-side holiday in one of the 66 rooms the Kivu Serena Hotel has including 37 standard rooms, 23 family rooms, and 6 Luxury Suites, all of which face the lake. Of the Standard and Family Rooms, you can request for the ones with king-sized beds or twin queen-sized beds while the Luxury Suites include a separate living cum working area.
